(Youth Empowerment Program) mentorship & case management

VEP was created to reduce behavioral and relationship issue of youths who are not fulfilling requirements in school, or home and are at high risk for out of home placement. YEP uses a Strength based approach that focus on utilizing the strengthens of the youth and their family’s ability to provide appropriate boundaries, direction and support to ensure the youth success. Youth referred to YEP are typically considered by their parents, school, or other referring agency has “at risk youth”.  YEP will work in collaboration with other professionals in the youths system to achieve encouraging outcomes for youth and their family.

 

The fundamental goal of VIP® is to assist and insist that youth abide by the conditions of their probation and are viewed as positive members of the community. We work with the youth and family and partner with others to help the youth “get back on track”. Outcome studies have demonstrated VIP®’s ability to prevent detention and placement while promoting positive behavior.

HOW IT WORKS 

  • Y.E.P. targets its intervention by using close supervision of the youth, teaching anger management skills, working with families to build appropriate parenting skills, identifying and accessing positive community resources, and assisting the youth with establish life goals.

  • Staff in the program will be trained develop a positive working relationship with the youth and their families so they are able to reinforce the need for the youth to establish appropriate life skills as well comply with school & home expectations.

  • Youth are seen frequently—typically 3 or more hours per week. We utilize both scheduled appointments and unannounced visits primarily at school, home, or in the community.

  • Staff are also available 24 hours a day to meet any safety or compliance issues that might arise in which to are able to address depending on the professional capability. 

  • Y.E.P. can be delivered at varying intensity depending on the level of service that is contracted, and services may last from 3-9 months.

  • Once our staff create a positive motivational bond with youth to get their buy-in to understanding that it is positive behavior which will allow them to live their lives with more freedom.

  • We create behavioral & goal contracts that help minors identify and connect to positive resources in their community.

  • These may include counseling, drug and alcohol treatment, recreation, or other positive productive outlets.
